Doing Better Business: Boss Leaders and What Makes Them Dope

by: Helena-Kelleese, Founder & Executive Director of Development and Operations, Serve Community

We all know one or two leaders, (hopefully more) that are dope leaders in business, community, and if you have the privilege to know this information, at home too. But the true questions is what makes a great leader, especially if you’ve been peeping how 2020 is going, our lack of leadership is alive and SEEN! We need individuals who have the capacity and capability to lead businesses, entrepreneurs, teams to their highest potential. Because things in the corporate world are changing, business leaders are shifting their mindset to be more open to accommodate their works. We still have a ways to go but progress is progress. Here’s a look at what makes a great leader dope.

Great communicator– We know this is the number one reason what makes a great person and an even better leader. They know how to articulate their thoughts and be as transparent with individuals working with them. They value knowing their team understands the rules, work culture, boundaries, and being efficient at work so they may mee these expectations.

Practices empathy– The world is a never-ending puzzle that many of us are looking at the heavens like is it over yet. With that, we need individuals, especially in leadership positions, to practice empathy towards the people they share space with. As stressful as the workplace is, especially now in a pandemic, it is imperative we practice grace for those that may be struggling to get through the day.

Sees value in individuals and their skills– As adults, an occasional good job, awesome work goes along way. Great leaders empower their team members and know it is important to encourage them to be their best selves in all they do. It creates a positive vibe that most would want to uphold and keep that synergy.

Mindset shift– Great leaders shift when presented with valid information to shift and open to change. They take all people and situations into consideration and make the best business practice decisions.

Allow people to elevate– A great leader also knows that people evolve and eventually want to take on new roles and responsibilities. They allow others to voice their opinions and are open to growth. They see value in other skills and nurture them because they know themselves that those individuals will do great things. Whether in their business or elsewhere. Individuals tend to say loyal to those teachings, in turn investing in others the way that leaders invested in them.

Keep focus on the bigger picture– Leaders that focus on the bigger picture consistently get the job done. They follow throw with their goals and mission, inspiring others to do the same.
